Jaeger-LeCoultre Presents the Reverso Stories Experience in Zurich

From October 20 to 30, the Reverso Stories Experience at Zürich's main station will provide an immersive look into nine decades of horological craftsmanship, showcasing artworks by renowned digital artists.

The sleek Art Deco lines and the unique reversible case of Jaeger-LeCoultre's Reverso make it one of the most instantly recognizable watches in history. Over 90 years since its introduction, the Reverso still embodies the modern spirit that led to its inception. To celebrate this iconic watch, the Swiss luxury watchmaker has curated a special exhibition.

Founded 190 years ago, Jaeger-LeCoultre has developed over 1,400 different calibers and registered more than 400 patents. La Grande Maison boasts several world-firsts, including the legendary patented swiveling case of the Reverso watch.

Icon of Design and Horology

The Reverso, with its unique and enduring representation of the Art Deco era, was conceptualized in 1931 on the polo fields of India. Designed with a watch face that could be flipped to endure the demands of polo matches, it was swiftly adopted by influencers across various spheres. Over nine decades, while its design essence remained untouched, it has housed over 50 different calibers, and its plain metal flip side has become a canvas for artistic flair, adorned with enamel, engravings, or gemstones.

Reverso Stories Experience: A Captivating Look Back

The extensive history and hallmark models of the Reverso are at the core of the Reverso Stories Experience. The exhibit highlights Jaeger-LeCoultre's rare crafts including enameling, engraving, gem-setting, and guilloché. A standout feature is the Reverso Hybris Mechanica Calibre 185, the most intricate timepiece in the collection, with four functioning sides, aptly named the Reverso Hybris Mechanica "Quadriptyque". It took over six years of development, merging expertise with innovative astronomical indicators, predicting events like supermoons and eclipses.

In the Winter Garden section of the exhibition, attendees will be introduced to artworks by American digital artist Brendi Wedinger and the eminent Korean digital artist Dr. Yiyun Kang. The Made of Makers series delves into the relationship between horology and contemporary art. Wedinger's artwork for Jaeger-LeCoultre pays homage to the flowers of the Vallée du Joux, reflecting the intricate designs of the watches. Meanwhile, Dr. Kang's installation "Origin" draws parallels between nature's symmetry and Art Deco Design.

Reverso Stories Experience Overview

First unveiled in Munich and London in 2022, the Reverso Stories Experience pays tribute to the Reverso watch. From October 20th to 30th, it graces Zurich, showcasing digital artworks under the Made for Makers series. The ambiance is further enhanced by the Reverso 1931 Café, exuding an Art Deco charm and a special touch from the Winter Garden.
