The 2023 Edition of the Geneva Swiss Red Cross Charity Ball Raises CHF 643,500 for Togo's Poorest Population
The esteemed University of Art and Design (HEAD) campus was illuminated by the presence of over 300 distinguished guests, all gathered for this grand occasion. A successful night of elegance and philanthropy.
Celebrations like this have consistently channeled significant funds, enabling hope and tangible change for projects both globally and locally. Prominent figures from the business, arts, and political spheres graced the event. The collective vision was unambiguous - to amass funds for the Swiss Red Cross's initiatives in Togo’s poorest population, with a special emphasis on projects that strengthen community resilience in the country's rural heartlands.
Championed Projects
Health and Infrastructure Initiatives
The accumulated funds are earmarked for diverse projects led by the Swiss and Togolese Red Cross in Togo. Prime among them are health-focused programs accentuating maternal and child health. This includes promoting breastfeeding, ensuring regular prenatal health check-ups, and provisioning vital items like vaccinations and mosquito nets. Infrastructure initiatives are directed towards providing potable water through well-digging and advancing sanitation with the construction of latrines in pivotal locations such as schools and health centers.
Eye-Care and Disaster Preparedness
A specific eye care program is in motion in the Plateaux Region, aiming to reduce blindness and visual challenges. In a united effort, the Swiss and Togo Red Cross are robustly backing disaster risk management, equipping communities to identify imminent risks and strategize accordingly.
An Evening to Remember
The evening commenced with the soulful echoes of the kora, a traditional West African stringed instrument, casting a mesmerizing spell upon the attendees. This musical prelude set the stage for a gastronomic voyage, as guests embarked on a sensory exploration crafted by Michelin-starred maestro, Julien Gatillon. His culinary masterpieces were not just a feast for the palate, but a harmonious blend of art and flavor. Yet, the pinnacle of the night's entertainment unfolded as French dance luminaries, Guillaume Diop and Chloé Lopes Gomes, took to the stage. Their exquisite performances, paired with the melodious renditions of Senegalese virtuoso Obree Daman, held the audience captive, marking an unforgettable highlight of the Geneva Swiss Red Cross Charity Ball.
